Captain’s Blog – Term 4

Hello, and welcome to the final Captain’s Blog of the big ’25! This year has flown by, and we can’t believe that we are at the end. Term 4 has been a busy one, with Inter-House and WACSSA Athletics Carnivals, Christmas events for ELC and Years 1-6, the Years 1-5 Awards Assembly, Beechboro’s Got Talent Finals, and, of course, the Year 6 Graduation. We wanted to share some of our speeches from Graduation as our final reflection for 2025.

We are honoured to stand before you to reflect on our journey, on behalf of the entire Year 6 cohort. I don’t know about you, Jaxon, but from my first days in Year 2 to now, it has been a blast. Well, Eva, I have been a student at this school since I was a wee little boy, and bet I have had even more of a blast than you here at Beechboro Christian School. We are all very grateful for all of you coming tonight to our graduation, and we are all really thankful to everyone who has helped us along this journey we have had at this wonderful school.

This year has been a rollercoaster of good times and events. Some key moments include leading our factions at the sports carnivals, being leaders, playing on our new playground, excursions and of course our Year 6 camp. The most memorable parts of our camp were getting jump scared by the teachers during our night walk, exploring the treetop adventure and the mud pit. This year has not been the only year full of fun times. We have had many other events such as the yearly colour run, harmony days and compassion days. Throughout Years 1 to 6, we have had many excursions; our favourites were Cockman House in Year 2, Penguin Island in Year 3, and sitting in the Senate of Parliament House in Year 5. And the one thing that we will treasure and miss the most is our friends.

Our classmates are people we have spent the majority of our lives with. They were there through our ups and downs and always looked out for one another. Not a second spent with them was a waste. And now, as we move on, not all staying together, we wish our peers the best in this new chapter.

Although we have had our moments, our cohort has been deeply appreciative of all those who have put time into making us better people. Now, we just want to, on behalf of all the sixes, thank all the teachers who have helped us along this journey. First, we must acknowledge our charming, wonderful, inspiring teachers, Miss Pattinson and Mr Chan.

Some of us have had Miss Pattinson as our teacher twice over the years. She is a caring and supportive teacher who has a humorous and serious style of teaching, and rules over our classroom with an iron fist. She is always there when you need her for help with a problem or to cheer us up. Sometimes it feels like she has eyes everywhere, however we believe that is for the best, making sure we are good boys and girls.
Mr Chan is a creative and bright-minded person when it comes to literally everything, from 3D printing, maths and making his minions laugh. He has boosted our knowledge in all aspects. Sometimes he feels like a philosophical motivational speaker. He has his quote posters plastered randomly everywhere in the classroom, UNTIL I put them all in a collection on the wall.

We also want to thank all the teachers. Thank you all for setting us up for success, every single teacher that has taught us during our time here at BCS, from Kindy all the way through to Year 6. We would like to thank all the specialist teachers, Xie Xie Mr Bonallack, Mrs Wong, Mrs Parr, Mrs Luca, Mrs Onofrei, Mr Partington, Mrs Pearce and Mrs Durham for building a love of the creative arts, sciences, sports and languages in us. To Mr Bolan, Mr Harris and Miss Thomas, thank you for leading the staff and community around us and making sure that we have the best opportunities and learning experiences, allowing us to flourish. And finally, we would like to thank every staff member who has walked with us in our journey at BCS. It has been a privilege and honour to learn with you. Each and every one of you has helped guide us to who we have become today.

There is also a very special woman and an amazing guy who are the unsung heroes of our school. Tonight we would like to acknowledge them… Nana Lyn and Mr Muccilli, thank you for sacrificing so much of your time to feed us in the canteen.

And the biggest thanks go to all the parents for choosing BCS and supporting us through our primary school journey. And we can’t forget all the times you helped us with all the washing of our uniforms and packed our lunches, we really appreciate it.

Now, this is for the Year 6s; we both have some advice for you all. Although we will miss each other next year, as it says in Jeremiah 29:11, “for I know the plans I have for you not to harm you but to prosper you and lead you to excellence”.

Even though this time may be hard, leaving primary school and starting high school, know that God is in control of our lives and has amazing plans for all of us.

We hope you have a safe and Merry Christmas, and may you all have a blessed 2026.
