Captain’s Blog – Term 3

Hello, and welcome to the third Captain’s Blog of the big ’25! We can’t believe how fast this year is going and that we’re already at the end of Term 3! Once again, this has been a busy one, full of many memorable moments.

The term began with excitement as our new nature playground was finally complete! All the Years 1–6 students have spent the term enjoying their recess and lunchtime on the playground, building their confidence as they master the slide, the rings, and the swaying steps.

In Week 3, we all participated in the Inter-House Cross Country Carnival. Long-distance running is not for everyone, but we are proud of everyone for giving it a go and pushing their limits. Thank you to our sports teachers, Mrs Parr and Mrs Le Roux, for organising the event.

There were two WACSSA Carnivals this term, Basketball and Cross Country. The Year 6 boys ended the day taking the win in Basketball, while all teams played well and had a ball. Our Years 2-5 students participated in the Cross Country, and despite the wet weather, they all ran extremely well. We had many students bring home medals for their efforts.

In Week 5, we (the two School Captains) had the privilege of attending the Governor’s Prayer Breakfast with Mr Harris, Miss Pattinson and Mrs Nicholas. It was a very early start and drive to Crown, where we dined in the Grand Ballroom along with 1200 other guests, including SCEA schools, CSA Schools, businessmen and women, and Government members. Students from the King’s College amazed us all with their voices during worship. We were lucky enough to have a photo and meet the Governor and his wife afterwards.

Week 6 was Book Week – one of the highlights in the school calendar. It was amazing to see everyone dressed up as their favourite book character during the assembly parade. As always, the staff got involved to act out the book…………. about children who go on an epic adventure, providing us all with entertainment and laughs.

Term 3’s highlight for the Year 6 cohort was their much-anticipated camp at Dare Adventures down in Dwellingup. We had four days packed with activities that included abseiling, kayaking, a commando course (that had a mud pit) and of course, the highlight, Treetops Adventures. We all challenged ourselves, encouraged one another and made wonderful lifetime memories.

RiseUP! continued this term, focusing on the school value of Community. Activities this term consisted of creating coupons around the Love Languages to give to our families and writing letters to our Compassion children.

Week 10 was a busy one, with the Learning Journey on Wednesday night and Compassion Day on Friday. The Learning Journey was a great opportunity for the students to bring their parents into the school and show off what they have been working on. It was lovely to see so many families come through our school.

Compassion Day is always a fun way to end the term, while raising money for our Compassion children: Danelys, Yireth, Sari, Luis and Darlin Alexander. It is a privilege to be able to provide support and help for these children to have a better life and opportunities for their futures.

We hope you have a wonderful Spring holiday, stay safe while enjoying the sunshine!
