Welcome to the next edition of the Captain’s Blog for 2024. Here we are at the end of another term. What a busy term it has been. From sports carnivals to learning journeys, Book Week, camp and Compassion Day, we have showcased our gifts and talents well and truly!
Inter-House Cross Country, WACSSA Cross-Country and Basketball carnivals provided opportunities outside the classroom to display our determination and persistence, particularly in navigating a new cross-country course at our new school site. A highlight was BCS coming in 5th at the WACSSA Cross-Country carnival.
Book Week looked a bit different this year without our usual parade, but that didn’t stop everyone from embracing the spirit of the day. We had an array of characters from our much-loved books running across the green area during recess and lunch breaks.
The Year 6 students had their much-anticipated camp down in Dwellingup. Four days of activities that challenged us and revealed an inner strength some of us didn’t realise we had. As much as we enjoyed the experiences camp gave us, we were glad to be back in our own beds at the end of the week!
Term 3 wasn’t just about sports and extra-curricular activities; there has been plenty of learning happening in all classes. In Week 8, we showcased our learning at our Open Night, where students walked their parents through their learning journeys and shared classwork they were proud of. Some year levels further showcased their learning this term; the Year 3 and 4 students held their Invention Exhibition in Week 9, and it was interesting to see the technological changes over the years. The Year 5’s Travel Expo is always a big hit in Week 10, with its brightly decorated stands, culinary delights and wealth of information about their selected North and South American countries.
RiseUP! continued this term with the theme aligning with our school’s value of Community. Using the story of Tony the Turtle and how his turtle friends helped put him upright when he had flipped on his back, we shared how important it is to look for the ‘Tonys’ around us and to help however we can. Linking beautifully with this theme, finishing the term today with our annual Compassion Day was quite appropriate. Raising money for our five Compassion children while having fun with our school community allows us to consider those less fortunate than ourselves.
We hope you all have a wonderful break, and we look forward to a busy and exciting final term for 2024!
